OUR MISSION

With programs helping Asian and Asian American communities outside of campus, Retention is geared towards supporting students both socially and academically within REACH! We work on the understanding that as Berkeley students, we have an overwhelming plethora of things to do, but it's important to establish a balance in our lives to maintain our physical and mental health. Our goal is to develop a meaningful support system in all facets of the college experience because only when you are academically, physically, mentally, and emotionally retained, can you be at your fullest potential to give back to the community.

Our Retention Team works to help Asian/Asian American folx and other students of color find community outside of the traditional classroom/professional setting. Our social retention programming creates spaces for students to engage in wellness, creative craft-making, and other mediums of self-retention. Our Retention Team holds events such as Welcome Month, a month-long programming initiative to help students integrate into the new semester. In addition, we also strive to encourage multicultural solidarity through our social retention events with other RRCs such as Boost Week. We believe that social retention is at the center of helping students find balance in day-to-day life at Berkeley and beyond.

SOCIAL RETENTION

As an RRC, we offer resources and programming to assist students of color succeed in higher education. Our academic retention programming uplifts students’ academic and professional development to help them successfully navigate their career goals. Through events such as study jams and development workshops, we seek to expand students’ professional toolkits while also creating support systems within our community along the way. In addition, our team is dedicated to helping aid students financially through providing initiatives such as academic scholarships, free headshots, and other resources necessary to achieve academic success.
